EMPOWERMENT

President Abdul Kalam has a vision 2020 for India as developed country, at the same time the head lines of daily newspapers scream about the dowry evil, family bondages on women, educational denial, gender bias, women safety, female maternal mortality. Are we heading towards a women empowered country? Definitely not. Despite our father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi's belief that there is immense untapped power in Indian women. It is accepted by all what Tagore said about women that there is a woman at the begining of all great things and women are wiser than men because they no less and understand more.

Inspite of contribution towards modern India, which led to reintegration of social relationships and creation of new codes of laws, still a section of masculine gender is not ready to accept the women empowerment and their efficacy and concept of equity and equality has still not seeped in.

From my point of view, mind of a girl child is a hot bed of emotions. But this is not going to account for anything. So she shouldn't wait for heaven to come to her. She should make efforts to steer her mind towards a state of confidence and happiness by sharing little things she has. Every single lamp can lighten up a completely dark area. By perseverence the snail reached the ark, is a famous Christian quote. It's high time to rediscover ourselves and to make best use of available resources and a peak against the wrong, because it is going to decide our destiny. Our level of persistence needs to be high so that it doesn't allow our enthusisasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come while pursuing the goal.

It's good on the part of our Government that is giving rebates on various things for women. Everyone accepts that these days media has emerged as a major source of power. It has been an effective source to voice the problems of everyone. But inspite of all these things, on practicality it calls for a lot. The major contribution is to be from women to empower herself, her interference into matters is going to pay her for ever.
